Muse Of Aymanam

Ayamanam is a typical water-based village in the Kumarakom region, characterized by vast stretches of green paddy fields and coconut groves. Migratory birds arrive each summer, drawn to this verdant landscape, and frolic in its natural splendour. Country boat rides through the interior canals provide a relaxing way to experience and appreciate nature’s bounty.

Activity :-

Experience a traditional canoe cruise through the narrow, winding canals and observe the scenic rhythms of daily life in the houses lining the banks. Walk through the heart of Aymanam, a typical Kuttanad village and the setting of Arundhati Roy’s novel The God of Small Things, which is surrounded by paddy fields. Here, one can identify snake abodes—structures considered sacred by the region’s earliest inhabitants. The village’s exotic beauty, as described in the novel, is not merely the product of a highly imaginative mind. With Lake Vembanad bordering its western side and the Meenachil River flowing through it, the village is richly endowed with natural resources. Rice fields cover approximately two-thirds of the area.

Be welcomed into the home of a Kathakali master, who will introduce you to this traditional theatre form, which combines elements of ancient Sanskrit drama with visually expressive representations of human emotions.
