The impressive Kapaleeshwarar temple, with its rainbow-coloured gopuram and pillared mandapas. Legend tells that Shiva turned his wife Parvati into a peacock, and commanded her to worship him here to regain her normal form. Hence the name Mylapore, or 'town of peacocks'.
